Man arrested after dog held by neck over second-floor porch

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A dog video was released showing a man dangling it by the neck from a second-floor balcony.

Police said they arrested Ransom May II on animal cruelty charges and booked him in jail on $1,000 bail.

Investigators said the incident happened at apartments at 120 McQuigg Ave. in Orlando.

Cellphone video of the incident was posted to Facebook on April 6. In the graphic video, the man is holding the dog by the neck, dangling it over the porch for almost two minutes.

Police said May, 22, turned himself in due to pressure from the media and detectives looking for him.%

Orlando police tweeted late Tuesday that the dog was found safe.

Animal Services and OPD said they went to the neighborhood on Monday, but residents would not identify May.

"He just doesn't love animals. (He) doesn't have no sympathy," neighbor Chris Deere said.

"I just prayed for that dog to be OK and that's all I could do. Thank god they eventually took him," witness Zeneida Yulfo said. "He left still holding the dog (through it's skin). So I said, 'I hope to God he didn't kill the dog."

Animal Services said it's possible the reason the dog was so quiet in the video was because it was scared.
